Riley Quinn pitches a shut-out game over Clopton on Oct. 7, helping the Lady Panthers gain victory with a score of 14-0.

The Monroe City Lady Panthers hosted Clopton on October 7. The Lady Panthers gained a 14-0 victory. Head Coach Melissa Chinn speaks highly of her team, sharing, “I am very happy with how we are playing right now.  I hope it continues into districts and beyond. So far, we have avenged two of our four losses. I hope we have another chance to see Palmyra as well.”

Senior Riley Quinn arrived on the mound to pitch a five-inning shut-out game, throwing nine strikeouts. The Lady Panthers were connecting their swing as well, with Emily Freidank, Mackenzie Moss and Quinn each gaining three RBI’s, with Quinn sending her teammates around the bases with a homerun.

Later in the week, the Lady Panthers traveled to La Plata to participate in a tournament. Monroe City qualified for the championship game, but would fall short to La Plata, losing the game 6-0. The Lady Panthers also fell to Brashear, 3-2, but defeated Montgomery County with a score of 9-0. The Championship round placement was determined by the overall record, head to head, defensive runs allowed and runs scored.

The Lady Panthers will begin District play on Thursday, October 15 at 5 p.m. at the Monroe City Lion’s Club field.
