The Monroe City Panthers win the District Championship in Palmyra on Feb. 29, scoring 49-43 over Palmyra. The Monroe City Panthers clenched the District Championship on February 29. The Panthers traveled to Palmyra to meet the Palmyra Panthers on the court for the fourth time this season. It has been said it’s hard to beat a team twice, but Monroe City has managed to grasp the victory all season against their rival. The Panthers ended the game with a winning score of 49-43.

The Monroe City Police Department escorted the Monroe City District Basketball Champions back to town on February 29, in an effort suppot the teams accomplishment.

As the Panthers returned home, the Monroe City Police Department escorted the bus back to the school, supporting their hometown team. Leading their team on the scoreboard was Bryce Stark scoring 16; Josiah Talton had 12 points; Joshua Talton had 8 points; Logan Buhlig had 5 points; Dalton McAfee had 4 points; and Kyle Hays and Trevantae Murphy each had 2 points.

The Monroe City Panthers will travel to Moberly to compete in a sectional game against Richmond. Richmond holds a season record of 25-3 and the Panthers season record is 26-2. The game will be hosted at the Moberly Area Community College at 8:15 p.m.
