Riley Quinn, Senior pitcher for the Lady Panthers prepares for the 2020-21 season.

The Lady Panthers are ready to put their cleats in the dirt and start preparations for the upcoming 2020-21 softball season. Head Coach Melissa Chinn stated, “I think we should do extremely well this year. We have a great group of girls. We have 30 out this year which is a great number. I look forward to working with them all this season.”

Although sport seasons have looked different for most athletes this year, the Lady Panthers are moving forward with a great outlook. Coach Chinn explained, “Our summer has been turned upside down. We usually compete in a Tuesday night league that we host, along with South Shelby and Palmyra. That was cancelled due to COVID-19. We had to wait until June 23 to have a socially distanced practice. We continued with those for two weeks, then we’re able to do a full team scrimmage.”

The Lady Panthers will be putting their bats and gloves to work as they plan to travel and compete. Coach Chinn shared the teams upcoming event stating, “This week we are hosting four teams in a round robin at our field. The more we can play the better, but also following guidelines.”
