Joseph H. Thompson, 86 of rural Monroe City, Missouri passed away Monday, May 30, 2022 at the Monroe Manor, Paris, Missouri.
He was born April 07, 1936 in Hunnington, Missouri the son of Joseph Angelo and Len Price (Turpin) Thompson.
Joe was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Monroe City, Missouri. He attended Hassard Grade School in Hassard, Missouri and later graduated from Monroe City High School. He was a Ralls County farmer for many years. He also was a carpenter and had a great passion for building. Joe also worked for Kulhman Diecasting in Monroe City for several years before retiring. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Knights of Columbus. Joe loved to work, he enjoyed being outside. He was a 4-H leader and for a long time was a member of the Extension Board. He enjoyed hunting very much. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
He married Mary Juanita Healy December 31, 1966, she survives of the home.
Also survived by two daughters Joanne Emerson Thompson of Providence, Rhode Island and Cathy Roberts of Sturgeon, Missouri. Four grandchildren Brendan Roberts, Kenneth Roberts, William Roberts (Emily) and Jesse Roberts (Lauren), two sisters Phyllis Taylor (Charlie) and Betty Buckman, also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother in law Joe Ralph Buckman and one son in law Bob Roberts.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Friday, June 03, 2022 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Monroe City, Missouri, Father Greg Oligschlaeger will officiate. Burial will be held at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery directly after the funeral mass. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City. A perish rosary service will be held at 4:45 pm and a perish scripture will begin at 6:30 pm at the Garner Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Brendan Roberts, Kenneth Roberts, William Roberts, Jesse Roberts, Brad Williams and Buddy Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Rouse Jarman, Phil Jarman, Jim Jarman, Jimmy Jarman and Bill Schneider. Memorials have been suggested to the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
