Jesse Coon

Jesse Ray Coon, 39 years old, of Novelty, passed away Saturday, May 29, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Jesse was born April 17, 1982 in Milan, to Gary and Susan (Smith) Coon, they preceded him in death. He is also preceded by: Paternal grandparents, Dean and Bertha Coon; Maternal grandmother, Geraldine Ingram; a brother, Travis Coon; two nephews, Jacob Coon and Brayden Coon; and an Uncle and Aunt, Victor and Iona Coon.

Jesse was survived by: Three sisters, Rosemary Coon and companion Brent West of Kirksville, Kathy Coon and companion Carson Weaver of Milan, Karen Coon and wife Kimberly Hughs of Chillicothe; three brothers, Larry Coon of Milan, Aaron Coon and wife Rebecca of Kirksville, and Jonathan Coon and wife Crystal of LaBelle, Missouri; a daughter, Izzy Strain of Shelbyville; His girlfriend, Lisa Campbell of Novelty; two uncles, Jerry Coon of Milan and Clint Smith and wife Lynn of Savannah, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Regan Coon, Collin Weaver, Jace Wilson, Pyper Wilson, Ericka Marple, Chase Martin, Maci DeJong, Dallas Harper, Denver Coon, and Detroit Coon.

Jesse grew up in Milan and during high school was in FFA and Vo-Tech where he worked for Sonny’s Auto and Collision in Kirksville. Jesse was a jack-of-all-trades, he was a Millwright, did carpentry, construction, mechanic work, and worked on farms. He enjoyed fishing, riding four wheelers, backroading, and drinking a cold one. Jesse liked watching NASCAR and was a Kansas City Chiefs fan. He played pool and cards, and liked grilling and smoking meat. Jesse loved spending time with his family.

A service for Jesse will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, June 3, at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will follow at the Shatto Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to his family to go toward his final expenses.
