Harold Eugene "Herky" Thomas Jr, 83, of Monroe City, passed away on November 21, at the Monroe Manor, Paris.

Harold was born in Brookfield, on May 11, 1938. To Harold E. Thomas Sr, and Bessie Long, (Thomas).

Harold was married to Ruth Embree on August 16, 1959. They had two children.  A son Danny Lee Thomas, A daughter Diana Lynne Thomas (Hendrix), of Monroe City. Harold married Evelyn Downs November 29, 1966. They adopted a daughter Twila Jean Thomas (Ford).

Harold worked at Imperial gas station until he moved to Illinois. He lived several years in Arizona, and a member of the Apache JCT Lodge # 2039, where he received the Moose of the Year in 1974, before moving back to White Hall Illinois.

He worked many years for Nestle Beverage Company in Jacksonville, Ill, he retired moving back to Monroe City in 2013.

Harold spent many of his retirement years fishing and camping. Playing cards, following Cardinals Baseball and spending time with family and friends was his favorite past time. Harold had a love for Music, traveling all around Missouri and Illinois, with friends to Country Music shows.

Harold is survived by, his son Danny Thomas, daughter Diana Thomas (Hendrix), son in-law Keith Hendrix of Monroe City, Twila and Brian Ford from Tennessee. Harold had 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.

Harold is preceded in death by, his parents, and spouse Evelyn.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Monroe City Senior Nutrition Center.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 26, at the Garner Funeral Chapel, Monroe City, Rev. Steve Goughnour will officiate. Visitation will from 10 a.m. until time of services Friday at Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City. Burial will follow at St. Jude’s Cemetery.  Memorial donations have been suggested to the Monroe City Nutrition Center.
