Erna Emelia Voudrie, 79, of New London, formerly of Chester, IL, passed away at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.
A Funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec 11, at 3 p.m., at the James O'Donnell Life Celebration Home in Monroe City. Pastor Brian Meranda will officiate.
Burial will be at Paradise Cemetery in Steelville, IL at a later date.
Friends and Family are invited to Erna's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held prior to the funeral service from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of the James O'Donnell Life Celebration Home in Monroe City.
Erna was born February 25, 1942, in Chester, IL to Joseph P. and Philomene L. Bert Korando. She was married to James Roy Voudrie on March 27, 1967 in Chester, IL . He preceded her in death July 18, 1991.
Survivors include her children Darrell Voudrie (Robin Hobeck) of Perryville, Annette (Bob) Beck of New London, James Voudrie (Robin) of Sparta, IL, John Voudrie (Charlene) of Ellis Grove, IL, Elizabeth Grider (Wesley) of Mt. Vernon, IL, brothers, Alan Korando of IL, Tom Korando of IL, Bob Korando of IL, Walley Korando of IL, Sisters, Ellen Sander of IL, Jeanie Kliendschmidt of IL, Gladys Velegas of IL, Ruthie Mollett of IL, 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Erna was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bud Korando, Tony Korando, and Glenn Korando.
Professionally, Erna worked at the Bunny Wash in Chester, St. Ann's Nursing Home, and Chester Nutrition Center for 25 years in Chester, IL.
Erna was always such a giver and had hugs for everyone. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidering as well as doing diamond art. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her chicken and dumplings. She enjoyed bird watching, crossword puzzles, taking in some Family Feud in her spare time, or enjoying some Elvis music. Erna enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren and loved ones. Above all else Erna loved her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
Erna was Christian by Faith and attended Ariel Christian Church.
