The Planning and Zoning Commission conducted a Public Hearing at City Hall on January 26 at 6 p.m. The purpose of the hearing is to receive input from the public on whether the following described property located on Lake Park Road, Hays Road, Hagan Road, Kendrick Avenue, Smith Drive and Quinn Drive in Monroe City, owned by Lake Park Homes, LLC, should be rezoned from R-2 Residential to C-1 Commercial.  

During the hearing, the commission heard concerns from residents who stated they do not want a commercial property in their back yard increasing the amount of traffic, not to mention if they approve the rezoning, they think they would have no say so in what would be put there in the future.

On February 4, during the City Council meeting the Planning and Zoning Commission reported they do not recommend rezoning from R-2 Residential to C1 Commercial at this time.
