The Monroe City Sheltered Workshop Thrift Store will open January 2 offering everything free to customers that day only. The Thrift Store will be closed on January 1. Customers are encouraged to stop by the store to shop. The store carries various items including clothing, household wares, holiday décor, along with furniture and tools.
Manager Connie Thurman explained the free shopping day, stating, “We want to give the community a chance to get things they may need before shipping anything across seas. We have an abundance of items. Everything in the store will be available for free on that day only.” The Thrift Store will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2.
The Monroe City Sheltered Workshop has been in operation serving Monroe City for the past 51 years. The Monroe City location employs approximately 39 employees and is located at 701 South East Border St. The Sheltered Workshop provides a recycling center, thrift store, builds pallets for local companies and does secondary factory work.
