bake sale

The Monroe City Manor Care Center (MCMCC) Auxiliary will be hosting their annual bake sale fundraiser on Friday, February 12 at the old Macon-Atlanta bank lobby from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds help support the needs of the residents throughout the year. Auxiliary member Joan Stone stated, “Come out and grab some sweets for your sweetie.”

Last July, the auxiliary kicked off a project to help with building improvements at the manor. Members asked for the public’s help with donations to provide automatic front doors, a sunroom and a chapel. Recently the auxiliary received a generous donation helping them move closer to their goal to complete the sunroom.

The facility once had a chapel, which was later turned into an office, as the need for space grew to meet the mandated requirements. Some of the manor’s latest improvements have been the addition of a new concrete parking lot completed in 2008, which added 20 more parking spaces to the existing lot and the addition of a new roof completed in 2009.

The home, which opened in 1977, provides an opportunity for family members to keep their loved ones close by, while receiving extra assistance and peace of mind, knowing they can receive the best quality possible for their activities of daily living in the comfort of their hometown.

The facility is overseen by a Board of Directors and is owned by shareholders. The nursing home tax, which is paid for by county tax payers, does not support the Monroe City Manor Care Center. The facility relies on donations, its shareholders and insurance payments to keep the facility going.

The MCMCC is a five-star skilled facility that provides a caring staff and a loving atmosphere. The facility provides needs for multiple hometown residents, who were once active members of the community. For the past 43 years, the facility has been providing skilled nursing care to community members. The residents of the community are provided with an option to have a home away from home that is close to their families.

Anyone wanting to help the facility reach their goal can send donations to MCMCC, 1010 Business Highway 36/24, Monroe City, MO 63456 or make a deposit at the F&M Bank Monroe City location in the MCMCC Building Improvement fund account.
