The Monroe City R-1 School District recently completed the asphalt project, paving the West Elementary, North Middle School and East High School Complex gravel parking lots. Superintendent Dr. Tracy Bottoms stated, “No bond money was allocated for the parking lots. We used budgeted money from the 2018-19 budget, when planning for this project.”
Earlier in the year, during a Board Meeting on April 8, the board approved the maximum $ 250,000 Asphalt Bid to Mid-River from Bowling Green. The project was to be completed in the summer of 2019 to pave the west Elementary, North Middle School, and East High School Complex gravel parking lots.
The High School parking lot will be fixed in the near future, Dr. Bottoms explained stating, “After phase one of the project, due to construction. Doesn’t make sense to spend another $150,000 plus, to have the lot torn up due to construction.”
Recently, the Monroe City, Board of Education, approved a bid on July 8 for the outer shell of the new Ag facility. That bid was accepted from Chief Buildings. There is a special meeting scheduled for August 1 to accept bids on the construction of the new Ag building. Dr. Bottoms explained, stating, “The latest timeline indicated that the Ag building could be done some time in January to early February,” adding, “The most recent timeline on construction is late August to early September.”
