Little girls arrived with their dates, full of bright smiles at the fourth annual Daddy Daughter Dance held on February 15. Dads and father figures alike escorted the little girls aged, kindergarten through eighth grade, for an evening of dining and dancing. Each girl carried with them their own sparkle and shine, wearing fancy dresses and special hair do’s. The event is hosted each year by the Knights of Columbus as a fundraiser for the organization.
The event saw approximately 220 fathers escorting their daughters for the fun filled night. As guests arrived, with doors opening at 6 p.m., they were able to purchase tickets for a 2020 American Girl Doll giveaway and the 50/50 raffle before finding their seats. The tables were set with coloring books and crayons for each girl attending, along with glow sticks.
Promptly at 7 p.m., dinner was served in a buffet style line. The meal consisted of pancakes with all the toppings, sausage and eggs which was served by the members of the Knights of Columbus.
As the dads and their dates enjoyed dinner, they chatted and the girls giggled with excitement as they shared conversations and made memories.
As the dinner concluded, the music started. The DJ and MC for the evening was Mayor John Long, accompanied by his wife Shelly. Girls were allowed to request their favorite songs throughout the night. Young dancers were scene jiving the latest moves, while some make choreographed their own routines to the beat. Girls faces were filled with excitement when the songs requested played for them to dance to. The dance also included the toilet paper game. Daughters wrapped their dates in toilet paper, providing some hilarious memories for the evening.
A photo of each father and daughter date was captured earlier in the evening for each date to have as a special memento of their exciting night. The evening ended at 9 p.m.
