The Monroe City High School will celebrate their football homecoming on October 4. Homecoming week at the school began Monday with the students dressing to a different theme for each day of the week. High school students were seen showing their school spirit as they participated in the festivities.
There will be a Homecoming Parade on Friday at 2 p.m. with the theme “Decades, Our Legacy is Golden!”. Each class will be decorating their floats to match the theme. The football game will begin at 7 p.m. with the Panthers hosting the South Shelby Cardinals.
On Monday, the students dressed to represent a meme. On Tuesday, students dressed to resemble their teachers. On Wednesday, the students came in representing an ingredient. The students are asked to dress in attire matching their Class Decade Thursday and Friday will be the traditional Black and Gold day.
Prior to the game, the FFA will host their annual Fish Fry at the Lions Club Barn from 5-7 p.m.
Candidates from each class were selected for homecoming royalty. In the freshman class, Emily Osborn will be escorted by Ceaton Pennewell. For the sophomore class, Emmalee Williams will be escorted by Bo Patterson. The juniors will be represented by Bailee Hays and escorted by Logan Lucas. The senior class has two candidates selected which are Jaycee Baker to be escorted by Keenan Batsell and Bailey Hays to be escorted by Antwuan Battle. The crowning will be held during half-time of the football game.
Following the game, a Homecoming Dance will be held from 9:30-11:30 p.m.
