The Monroe City Christian Church will be celebrating the 150-year anniversary on Sunday October 20. All friends and former members are invited to join the congregation in this day of celebration, worship, reflection and the opportunity to look forward to the next 150 years.
The day will begin with registration and light refreshments at 9 a.m. At 9:30 a.m. will be a gathering in the sanctuary for a “Time of Remembrance” for sharing stories and photos of the church’s history. At 10:45 a.m. the Worship service will begin and will include recognition of long time members. All attendees will gather on the Church steps for a group photo following the service.
At 12:30 p.m. everyone is invited to the Church-Wide Carry-In Dinner. Guests are asked to contact the Church at 573-735-2610 by October 1 so that there will be adequate accommodations. Following the meal there will be tours of the Church facility and additional viewing of photos and videos. At 3:15 p.m. will be a brief Service of Sending Forth.
The Monroe City Christian Church was organized in February 1869. The first church building was constructed at the present location, 214 Court Street, was completed in 1870. The present building was begun in 1925 and dedicated April 14,1925.
Additional photos would be welcomed - particularly photos from weddings, baptisms and fellowship activities. These can be emailed to the Church office. If electronic photos are not available, contact the office and arrangements can be made to scan the photos.
Memorial flower table arrangements are available for anyone who would like to honor deceased family or friends. The arrangements will be $25. If interested please call the church office. If further information is desired, persons are encouraged to reach out to the church office by phone or email.
