Last week I wrote about the trifecta of fireworks this year; while I only made it to the displays at the Mark Twain Lake Rodeo and my grandparent’s house I did catch a glimpse of the Monroe City fireworks outside my window Monday night. It occurred to me that this is the first year that I haven’t been directly involved in setting off fireworks; well I guess that should be the first year since I have been old enough to light my own.
Maybe that’s part of growing up, you look forward to spending the time talking with friends and family and less the excitement of playing with fire and consumer grade explosives, but I’m getting off topic.
Family get-togethers are less about the food and more about the fellowship. (I have taken a special interest in the food now that I have started teaching myself to cook… just another part of the growing up process I guess.)
