As a person drives around town, you can’t help but notice all the limbs damaged in the ice storm. This reminds me of biblical scripture, which teaches us to be firmly planted in the foundation of Jesus.
We don’t want to be found like the branches laying all over the ground, fallen, broken and dead. We have to stay connected in the love God gives us all freely to live our life with peace, joy and purpose.
Even when a storm blows in, and a storm will come, we are then tested in our trust in God. The reaction measures how deeply planted each is. It displays either a person fallen and broken or a believer who can continue to hold on to joy, peace and firmly planted faith in the midst of events happening around them.
When a person is able to find their peace and joy in God’s love, circumstances around them are unable to steal their happiness because they will continue in the trust God gives to each person as a free gift. This kind of peace starts with a relationship with Jesus Christ. Start your year out committed to have a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. God is love, He loves each and every one of us through all our trials.
1 John 4:16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
1 John 4:7-8 Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Colossians 2:7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
