Weekly Challenge: Enjoy the “good stuff”.

Is anyone ever truly happy? It seems we live in a needy world of future wants and waiting to be happy. Stop this week and find things happening right now that you can be happy with.

Happiness is not found when we have everything we want, because in all honesty we will never have everything we want. Happiness is found within each of us. It is the very center, the heart of what moves us each day. Happiness is not in the perfect children, winning an event, being at the top in your career or having the flawless spouse.

Happiness is when everything can look so messy around you, but you are able to smile anyways. The laundry needs done, dishes are stacking up, schedules are hectic and storms are overflowing into lives every single day. We can choose to be happy in the midst of troubles, in fact the bible tells us we should praise God through all our storms.

We all want to be happy, but sometimes trying to find happiness can be a struggle. Often times we search for it in all the wrong places or ways when the answer is much simpler - God.

Enjoy the small stuff, the things going on every day around you. The laughter of your children, the small conversations, dinner together, family chores, time spent in the car and the quiet moments.

Looking back in time, the good stuff was the messy supper table when my kids were small, sitting outside with my children, playing board games and cards at family gatherings and car rides with simple conversations.

Happiness is in the center of us, Jesus should be at the center of us. This is where happiness starts, with Jesus being the center of all areas. A relationship with Jesus will keep us focused, help us through all the storms and keep us on a solid foundation.

Enjoy the “Good Stuff!”

1John 3:18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

Psalm 37:4-14 Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:  He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.  Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.  Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.  For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.  A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.  But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.  The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming. The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright.

Psalm 144:15 Happy are the people whose God is the Lord
