fundraiser

The Monroe City R-1 Middle School is hosting a fundraiser, giving a new opportunity available to the students and their families that will help decorate the school building and allow student talents to shine.

The Monroe City Middle School has a new opportunity available to the students and their families that will help decorate the school building and allow student talents to shine. During the 2019-20 school year there will be several opportunities for fun activities that students can earn, however funding these can be a challenge. To help cover these costs the school has devised a new fundraising opportunity where individuals can purchase a ceiling tile for $20, decorate/paint the tile, and return it to school where it will be placed in the ceiling of the Middle School Lobby.

Student Lighthouse Team Sponsor and Science Teacher Stefanie Fink stated, “The money raised goes into our Student Lighthouse Team account. This account pays for the supplies for our LEAD Days at the middle school, to make our students a better place. The team also funds Red Ribbon week activities and handouts to the student bodym along with different fun activities for the entire middle school student body throughout the year.”

Those decorating the ceiling tile decor must be school appropriate to display. The school will expect tiles to be decorated neatly, in good taste, so that they will be an encouragement and promote a positive, healthy, and safe atmosphere within the building. Tiles may not contain writing, drawings, or emblems that are derogatory, refer to liquor, tobacco, controlled substances, weapons, or are designed to represent a hidden meaning. The school hopes each and every student will enjoy this new opportunity so the opportunity can continue to be offered for years to come.

To purchase a tile, interested individuals can send $20 to the school office with their student’s name, grade, and marked “Ceiling Tile”. The tile will be sent home with the student, or anyone else wanting to participate can bring money to the school office and retrieve the tile. If a ceiling tile is damaged or broken while decorating, students/parents are responsible to purchase another. If tiles turned in do not follow the guidelines above, the tile will not be displayed.
