The Monroe City Trunk or Treat trails were filled with several sweet treat, candy seeking little ones. The disguised youth showed up in different sizes, some with spooky scary attire, others with fancy beautiful fantasy characters and even more representing their favorite sports or occupations. The Lion’s Club parking lot was filled with fake blood, glitter and smiles as they went trunk to trunk to retrieve their trick or treat to add to their bag of goodies.
The event was made possible by community member Angie Chapman, who had an idea earlier in the year to have a big Trunk or Treat. She messaged a few of her friends, including Brittnee Hinch, Sara Flick, and Leanna Moss. Together the four of them put together a fun event for the town. Chapman shared the success of the event, stating, “It exceeded our expectations and we are looking forward to next year.”
The business/organization trunk winners were G.C. Potterfield Trucking winning first place with a spider webbed truck, Bow Company with second place using a Harry Potter theme and Girl Scout Troop 9223 in third place displaying the Cookie Monster with cookie sales coming in January 2021.
Individual trunk winners were Larry and Tara Fortner in first place with their scary clown fun house, Amanda Copenhaver won second place with scarecrows.
