MDC sets deer and turkey hunting dates for 2025-2026 seasons
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) recently set turkey and deer hunting dates for the 2025-2026 seasons. The hunting dates were approved by the Missouri Conservation Commission at its Dec. 13 open meeting at the MDC St. Louis Regional Office in St. Charles. The Commission also gave initial approval to recommendations related to chronic wasting disease (CWD) that would rescind the intrastate carcass transportation regulations for deer and other cervids (members of the deer family) and that would establish carcass- disposal requirements for deer and other cervids harvested in Missouri.

MU Extension joins multistate study of pig manure as corn fertilizer
University of Missouri Extension is studying the use of pig manure as a crop fertilizer in research at the MU Bradford Research Farm in Columbia.

Monroe Station Acoustic Jam brings music and fellowship
The lively sounds of banjos, fiddles, mandolins, and accordions fill the air twice a month at Monroe Station's Acoustic Jam Session, bringing together musicians and music lovers for an evening of camaraderie and creativity. Held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month from 6 to 9 p.m. at 101 S. Main Street, the event is open to all acoustic musicians, singers, and anyone who enjoys live music.

MDC reports hunters harvested 11,424 deer during the CWD portion of the firearms deer season, Nov. 27 – Dec. 1, in CWD Management Zone counties.

DTMC to host Christmas season Street Stroll Dec. 14
The festive fun doesn't stop in Monroe City! On December 14, the DTMC Street Stroll will bring even more holiday cheer with an exciting lineup of activities and local vendors, offering something for everyone. Families can kick off the day by visiting Santa at his house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for magical photo opportunities and cherished memories. The event also promises live performances, including the Monroe City Band at 1:00 p.m. and the Monroe City Singers at 1:30 p.m., adding delightful holiday tunes to the bustling streets.
