On November 12, Governor Mike Parson announced the appointment of Talley M. Smith as Associate Circuit Judge for Monroe County in the 10th Judicial Circuit. She will fill the Associate Circuit Judge vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Michael P. Wilson. The appointment will become effective on November 17. Smith stated of her recent appointment, stating, “I have spent a lot of time in Judge Wilson’s courtroom. He is someone I have always looked up to and respected, so to follow in his footsteps, both as Monroe County’s Prosecuting Attorney and now as Associate Circuit Judge, is quite an honor. I am humbled that, after the time and effort spent to vet each of the applicants for this position, the governor selected me. His appointment is effective Wednesday November 17, 2021, though I expect to be sworn after that date.”
Smith currently serves as the Monroe County Prosecuting Attorney and has served the County elected position since January 1. 2011. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri–Columbia. Judge Michael P. Wilson stated, “This appointment is well deserved. Talley has paid her dues serving Monroe County as the Prosecutor.” Judge Wilson will remain a part of the 10th Judicial Circuit serving when needed and plans to help Smith transition into her new position.
