ROBERT P. (BOB) MUDD

Robert P. (Bob) Mudd, 78 of Clarksburg, West Virginia died on January 29, 2025, at his home.
He was born on September 7, 1946, in Hannibal, MO, a son of the late Pearl Martin and Mary Ellen (Littleton) Mudd. He was raised in rural Monroe City on the family farm with 13 brothers and sisters, attended Swinkey Church and graduated from Monroe City High School Class of 1965. Bob was a decorated Vietnam Veteran having served ‘67-68. He attended Gem City College in Quincy, then moved to Washington DC to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 1971 working in the Freedom of Information/Privacy Act Unit. Bob was known for handling their toughest cases. In 1996, Bob moved with the FBI to Clarksburg, WV where he worked successfully to establish the electronic sharing of criminal history information for all 50 states. In 2002, Bob retired from the FBI with over 30 years of dedicated service. Bob met many lifetime friends at the FBI who became part of his West Virginia family.
Bob was a devout Catholic and a loving family man. He treasured his large family and never forgot a birthday. He looked forward to his annual trip to the lake with his brothers for spoonbill snagging. He loved going to flea markets and antiques stores with his sisters and friends in WV. He was a mean card player and ruthless with board games. Branson and Florida were his favorite vacation spots, often sharing them with family. He was a season ticket holder for the West Virginia Mountaineer football games.
Bob is survived by his brothers; Hugh Mudd of California, Fred Mudd of California, Richard Mudd of Monroe City, James Mudd (Dorothy) of Monroe City, Nicholas Mudd of Monroe City, Charles Mudd (Judy) of Moberly, Howard Mudd of Hunnewell and brother-in-law Larry Brown of Quincy. Sisters; Patricia (Ernie) Wooten of New London, Carolyn Mills-Utter of Moberly, Joyce (Ed) Cochran of Cairo as well as several nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Donald Mudd, Sisters Lucille Massey and Ruth Ann Brown, sister-in-law Penny Mudd and Gerry Mudd and brother-in-law Michael Utter, niece Cheryl Massey and nephew Michael Mudd.
Visitation will be held at St. Stephen Church in Indian Creek, Missouri, on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Fr. Greg Oligschlaeger. A graveside service will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Monroe City, Missouri.
