JOYCE ELAINE (HARRIS) ANDERSON

JOYCE ELAINE (HARRIS) ANDERSON
August 1, 1942 – September 22, 2025
Joyce Elaine (Harris) Anderson, 83, of Taos, Missouri, formerly of Monroe City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2025, at her home.
Joyce was the daughter of Kenneth Lee and Dorris Elaine Harris, born on August 1, 1942, in Peoria, Illinois. She married Charles Anderson on August 26, 1982.
Joyce was a 1960 graduate of Monroe City High School. She later graduated from Capital Business College in Jefferson City and also attended Lincoln University and Hannibal-LaGrange College. She received a Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) designation and, later, a real estate salesperson license.
Joyce took great pride in her work with Warren See over the years. She began her association with the Warren G. See Agency (later See Real Estate) during her high school years, working part-time for Warren See, the founder of the agency. Joyce was proud to have worked alongside many people integral to the creation of the Clarence Cannon Dam and Mark Twain Lake. She strived to preserve the history of the processes it took to turn this dream into a reality. Joyce made a career out of her time at See Real Estate before retiring.
When she was not in the office, Joyce enjoyed reading and crafts, especially making quilts and afghans for her grandchildren and family. All her grandchildren could count on receiving a cross-stitch ornament every Christmas made by Grandma Joyce. Filled with pride for her family, Joyce dedicated herself to researching her family genealogy in her later years. She maintained pictures and records that she now passes down to the next generations.
Joyce loved attending sporting events, both school and club, and other school activities to support her grandchildren. She spent many hours watching Sara, Alyson, Emilee, and Kayla in sports over the years. Joyce spent the final 11+ years of her life residing with Jim (her son) and Kelli Jones in Taos. She loved spending time with her four granddaughters and later with her two great-grandsons, whom she saw almost daily. Joyce enjoyed breakfast at Oscar’s Classic Diner and loved driving by the Blair Oaks R-II School District to see the students, teachers, coaches, and staff whom she adored deeply. Sometimes, she would even stop by one of the school buildings for a visit.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Jerry Harris, her sister-in-law Carla Harris, and her grandson Jeffrey Lee-Mudd Harris. She is survived by two sons: Dr. Jeff (Antonia) Harris of Midway, Georgia, and Dr. Jim (Kelli) Jones of Taos; five stepchildren: Lee (Kathy) Anderson of Monroe City, Lynn (Beth) Anderson of Hannibal, Linda (Bob) Beard of Hannibal, Ruth Ann (Buz) Shaver of Monroe City, and Mary Kay (Allan) Leonard of St. Charles; eight grandchildren: Sara (Caleb) Bischoff of Columbia, Alyson Epperson of Springfield, Emilee Jones of Overland Park, Kansas, Kayla (Garrett) Francis of Salisbury, Ryan Harris of Charlotte, North Carolina, Kurt (Krista) Harris of Highland, California, Rebecca (Chris) Findley of Waleska, Georgia, and Valerie Thompson of Midway, Georgia; and three great-grandchildren: Carter Bischoff of Columbia, Caden Bischoff of Columbia, and Reagan Findley of Waleska, Georgia. She is also survived by multiple step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
