PAUL MUDD

Paul Vincent Mudd, 87, of Monroe City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on May 4, 2025, in the company of his loving wife, Donna.
Paul was born on July 20, 1937, in Monroe City to the late William Randall and Alice Pearl (Collins) Mudd. The youngest of eight children, he was raised on the family farm southwest of Monroe City. After graduating from Holy Rosary High School in 1955, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Nantahala with the Sixth Fleet, traveling the globe extensively.
Following his honorable discharge, Paul returned home and married Missy Joy Butler on September 19, 1958, in Monroe City. Together, they raised two sons, Dusty and Paul, and a daughter, Dedra Beth. Paul became a skilled electrician, working in the trade until his retirement. He was a devout Catholic, a devoted family man, and an active member of his community. He served in the Monroe City Jaycees for several years, helping organize many events and fundraisers, and later served as chapter president.
On September 17, 1983, Paul married Donna Jo Spalding in Monroe City. Paul, Donna, and their daughter Tania shared a love of travel and treasured time with family and friends. Paul continued his dedication to public service as Mayor of Monroe City from 1987 to 1990 and as a longtime board member of Perry State Bank, serving for over 20 years.
Professionally, Paul worked for White Electric Supply in Monroe City and Hannibal before co-founding HyVo Construction Company in Monroe City with Gene Millard in 1977. After retiring and closing the company in 2007, Paul returned to the workforce just three months later, joining P&D Electric in Hannibal, where he worked until his final retirement in 2024.
Paul is survived by his wife, Donna, of Monroe City; his sons, Dusty of Columbia, Missouri, and Paul (Tracey) of Monroe City; and his daughter, Tania (Eric) of Springfield, Missouri. He leaves behind ten grandchildren: AnnaLyssa Harmon of Tontitown, Arkansas; Anthony (Tia) Mudd of Fulton, Missouri; Alexander (Jessica) Holyfield of Nashville, Tennessee; Logan (Lindsay) Mudd of Columbia, Missouri; Elijah (Ada-Miette) Holyfield of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Rachel Gore of Kansas City; Natalie (Nic) Brooks of St. Louis, Missouri; Daniel (Emma) of Springfield, Missouri; and Collin and Ava Gore of Springfield, Missouri. Paul also leaves five great-grandchildrenRemington, Roman, Robert, Josephine, and Bennett Roseand numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Dedra Beth; his brothers, Joe, Johnny, and Bill Mudd; his sisters, Kay Cleveland, Mary Jane Ludwig, Geneva Montford, and Dorothy Parn; as well as sister-in-laws Emma Jo, Mary, and Ceil; and brother-in-laws Cleve, Norb, Walter, and Harold.
A con-celebrated Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Monroe City. Fr. Greg Oligschlaeger and Fr. Mike Quinn officiated. Burial followed at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Visitation was held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Active pallbearers were Keith Mudd, Dennis Spalding, Daniel Mudd, Logan Mudd, Anthony Mudd, and Collin Gore. Honorary pallbearers included Jerry Burditt, Gene Millard, Dan Mudd, and Larry Addison.
Memorials are suggested to the Holy Rosary Lady’s Auxiliary.
