DOROTHY DIERKES

Dorothy “Dottie” Marie Dierkes, age 94 of Rowlett, TX, loving wife and mother of nine children, passed on to eternal life on March 7, 2025. Dottie was born on January 14, 1931 in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of William Garnet and Agnes Olivia (Parsons) McClintic. Dottie was the oldest of five siblings, William “Bill”, Richard, Mary Catherine “Kate”, and Robert “Bob”. Dottie treasured her years growing up on the farm and graduated as valedictorian from St. Stephens Parochial High School in Indian Creek, MO in 1948. She went on to study at Mt. Scholastica College, where she met Thomas P. Dierkes. They married on May 29, 1953. Dottie and Tom expanded their family and called many places home over time, which included VA, CA, MO, TX, and IL, before finally settling in Rowlett, TX. Dottie felt her greatest calling was that of mother and homemaker, but it was her deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ and her love and appreciation of the Catholic faith, that served as her anchor throughout her life. She was very active in her many parishes throughout the years, especially as a mentor to those seeking to know more about the Catholic faith, and as a sponsor to countless who came into the Catholic Church. She was a voracious reader, loved taking long walks, working crossword puzzles and studying her family genealogy. Regardless of how busy life got, she always found time for one-on-one conversations with those who sought her listening ear and wise counsel. She was a “mother” to many!
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, her husband Tom (2018), and her son Msgr. Rick (2008). Dottie is survived by her son Tom & wife Beth and their five children plus spouses & nine grandchildren, son Bill & wife Maureen and their three children plus spouses & eight grandchildren; daughter Deborah and her four children plus spouse and ten grandchildren; daughter Teri & husband Greg and their four children plus spouses & seven grandchildren plus spouse & three great grandchildren; daughter Becky and her two daughters plus spouses& one grandchild; son John and his daughter plus spouse & one grandchild; son Tim & wife Dee and their two children plus spouse & one grandchild; son David & wife Donna; and numerous nieces and nephews who all knew her as Nannie.
