RICHARD ”DICKIE” LEON MUDD SR.

Richard “Dickie” Leon Mudd Sr., age 86, of Monroe City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at Salt River Nursing Home in Shelbina, Missouri, on February 8, 2025. He was born on June 3, 1938, to Pearl Martin Mudd and Mary Ellen Littleton.
 Dickie attended St. Stephen School in Indian Creek, Missouri, before embarking on a hardworking life. He worked as a union roofer, on the railroad, and at Diemakers, dedicating himself to each role with unwavering commitment. A man of faith, he was Catholic by belief and lived his life in accordance with his values.
 Dickie had a love for the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a lifelong NASCAR fan, always looking forward to attending the Daytona 500. His home was often a gathering place for friends and family, as he loved having people over. Travel was also a passion, and he cherished the opportunity to explore new places.
 Dickie is survived by his son, Richard Mudd, as well as his brothers: Hugh Mudd of California, Fred Mudd of California, James Mudd (Dorothy) of Monroe City, Nicholas Mudd of Monroe City, Charles Mudd (Judy) of Moberly, and Howard Mudd of Hunnewell. He is also survived by his sisters: Patricia (Ernie) Wooten of New London, Carolyn Mills-Utter of Moberly, and Joyce (Ed) Cochran of Cairo. Additionally, Dickie leaves behind his beloved grandson, Zachary Mudd of Cordova, Illinois, and two great-grandchildren, Kinzlee and Braxton Mudd. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
 Dickie was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Donald and Bob Mudd, his sisters Lucille Massey and Ruth Ann Brown, his sister-in-law Penny Mudd and Gerry Mudd, his brother-in-law Michael Utter, as well as his niece Cheryl Massey and nephew Michael Mudd.
 A visitation was held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Garner Funeral Chapel from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services took place on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Garner Funeral Chapel, led by Fr. Greg Oligschlaeger. A graveside service will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Monroe City, Missouri.
 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salt River Nursing Home.
 Pallbearers for the service were Jamie Mudd, Steve Shively, Phil Campbell, Zach Mudd, Kati Beckett, Brian Mudd, and Randy Greeves.
 Dickie’s love for family, his good-natured spirit, and his passion for life will never be forgotten by those who had the privilege to know him.
