Whitetails Unlimited held their twenty-first annual banquet on March 10 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Monroe City. More than 400 outdoors men and women, along with several youth supported the event.
In honor of the recent loss of committee member, Jerry Botkins, a moment of silence was held.
David Cheek, committee member, gave kind words of recognition of the loss of their dear friend. Cheek mentioned all the hard work Mr. Botkins had done for Whitetails and also for the entire community for many organizations. He thanked his family for coming and being a part of the banquet as well.
The doors opened at 5 p.m. for guests to bid on silent auction items and raffle items for the nights entertainment. Whitetails Unlimited glass mugs could be purchased for $20 or blaze orange plastic cups for $10 for the evening event. The tables were decorated with green table clothes, placemats which shared information on how the local Whitetails Unlimited Chapter had helped the community and plates of deer summer sausage to snack on throughout the evening.
