The Twenty-First Annual Ecumenical Lenten Breakfast started on March 26 and continues through Friday, March 30. A full breakfast menu is served in the basement of the Christian Church located at 214 Court Street. Each morning the Lenten Breakfast begins promptly at 7 a.m. and concludes no later than 8 a.m. with a different speaker and musician each day.
Each morning the breakfast includes eggs, meat, biscuits, gravy, fruit, coffee and juice with pancakes being served on Thursday. The breakfast is prepared by the Monroe City Masonic Lodge.
On Monday, Anthony Yates spoke with Alan and Rita Schachtsiek performing music. Tuesday was this year’s Eagle Scouts, Brad Cheek, Nathan Mehrer and Colin Kendrick with Larry Washington playing the piano and singing. Then on Wednesday, Cindy Foster was scheduled to speak with the MCR-1 High School choir director, Austin Long, to perform the melody on Wednesday. Rusty Rothweiler will open on Thursday with Tracy Grove using her talents for music. On Friday, Joe Kendrick will speak and the Christian Church will oversee the music that morning.
