The Monroe City Fire Department (MCFD) promoted Jason Taylor to the position of Fire Captain on November 24, 2017 by Fire Chief Rich Enochs.
Taylor started on the MCFD in 1999 at the age of 21. He worked as a volunteer firefighter serving the community for two years before being hospitalized suffering from a heat stroke. While recovering he was unable to return to the fire department. Once released back to duties, Taylor joined the Shelbyville Fire Department for six years. In October of 2008, Taylor returned to the MCFD as a volunteer firefighter and has continued to serve the community for the past 10 years.
