Paris Mark Twain Old Threshers begins July 6

The forty-eighth annual Mark Twain Old Threshers Association will begin on July 6-9 in Paris at the fairgrounds. There will be a flea market, dunking booth, conservation exhibits, saw mill in operation, baling straw with tractor, shingle mill, Civil War re-enactors, threshing demonstrations with old time equipment, early day gas engines, early day farm tractors and a rope making machine which will be available for the public to view for the dates of the fair. This year the featured tractors are Minneapolis Moline, Oliver Antique, Classic and Related Equipment but all other brands are welcome also. There is camping available for the weekend for $30, which includes electrical hookups. There will be a $5 admission for the weekend, 12 years and under is free with an adult and 16 and under must have parental supervision. Anyone paying the admission fee will receive a button good for all shows and events.

On Thursday, July 6, a breakfast of biscuits and gravy will be served form 7-9 a.m. The Mark Twain Old Threshers tractor cruise will be held with registration starting at 8 a.m., line-up to begin at 8:45 a.m. and leaving fairgrounds at 9 a.m. The entry fee will be $30 for anyone wishing to enter the cruise with a poker style tractor run. The entry fee includes lunch for one person with additional lunches available for purchase for $6 each. Later that evening there will be a fish fry open to the public starting at 5:30 p.m. at The Food Shack with music to be provided by Johnny, Jim, Jane, Guy & Others.

The next day, on Friday, July 7, breakfast of biscuits and gravy will be available from 7-9 a.m. There will be a baby show that is open to all babies starting at 6 p.m. Anyone wanting to enter will need to register at 5 p.m. The boys and girl’s divisions will be 0-6 months, 7-12 months, 13-18 months, 19-24 months and 25-35 months. There will be an overall grand champion and Lil’ Mr. and Miss contest award winners. The Old Threshers Contest will start immediately following the baby show. The age divisions for this contest are Mr. and Mrs. Old Threshers 19 years and up, Mr. and Miss Old Threshers 15-18 years, Jr. Mr. and Miss Old Threshers 12-14 years and Prince and Princess 6-11 years.
