In game one of district play, the Panthers met up with their school rival Palmyra on February 20 and would prove to be the third victory over the orange and black Panthers, winning with a score of 53-41.
Next, in game two of districts, the Panthers met up with the top seeded Hallsville Indians. Monroe City came prepared to step up offensively and defensively on the court. The Panthers made three point shots look like a regular pattern for the evenings game, taking possession and calling the game a victory with a score of 72-62 and moving them into the District Championship game.
Here in the third game of districts, the District Championship, was against the Clark County Indians. The team has been a tough opponent this year for the Panthers. The Monroe City players stepped on the court giving all they had, battling to make shots count and keeping their defense strong throughout the entire game. This would land the team in an overtime and a chance to move on to sectionals.
The Panthers increased their momentum in the overtime quarter and played with high energy which pushed them into the lead on the scoreboard. As the buzzer rang the Monroe City Panthers had won with a score of 60-57 and named the Class 3 District 8 Champions.
