The Monroe City Panthers entered district play on October 26, hosting the Missouri Military Academy (MMA), of Mexico. The MMA Colonels were no match against the Panthers, who tripled the opposing team in players. The Panthers led the game to victory with a 52-0 score.
Although the Colonels were outnumbered in players, the team never gave up playing the game of football with heart.
Head Coach David Kirby commented, “The game gave us the opportunity to see different players in certain game situations.” The Panthers opened the game in the first quarter with four touchdowns and the two-point conversion good each time. Zach Osborn added two touchdowns, Kaelin Kendrick-O’Bryan caught a 38-yard pass from Blake Hays and Gage Bottoms added another touchdown. The Panthers ended the quarter 34-0.
