Soldiers, civilians and Torii Station’s Okinawan neighbors bid a fond farewell to Lt. Col. Lance O’Bryan June 29 as he passed the garrison’s colors to Lt. Col. Zachary Hohn during a Change of Command ceremony at Border Landing Zone. More than 200 people attended the ceremony, including Lt. Gen. Kenneth R. Dahl, Commanding General, Installation Management Command, Command Sgt. Maj. Melissa Judkins, Japanese Ground Defense Force leadership and the Ward Chiefs from the surrounding area.
U.S. Army Garrison – Japan Commander William Johnson served as reviewing official under a bright blue Okinawan sky. Johnson said that O’Bryan excelled during his tenure at Torii Station because of his leadership, fierce commitment and professional excellence.
“Lance embraced the challenges associated with an overseas garrison command and has surpassed all expectations,” said Johnson.
