The National Wild Turkey Federation(NWTF) held a banquet dinner on Saturday, October 7, hosted by the See’s Creek Chapter. The banquet left one Monroe City R-1 Elementary fourth grader all smiles. He was the winning recipient of the crossbow raffle. Cooper Hirner, who was in attendance with his family received the Bear Bruiser FFL crossbow through a raffle ticket drawing.
The bow came with everything needed to hunt and was valued at $599.
The evening started at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour. Regional Director of the NWTF, Mike Allen, of Brashear, was the MC for the evening. During this time guests were allowed to buy tickets for the raffles, bid on items in the silent auction and enjoy a drink while visiting with fellow attendee’s. The bids were made with numbers given upon arrival. Each person received a paper with a number for the evening which was to be cashed out at the end of the event after the auction was concluded.
At 7 p.m. a dinner was served of prime rib or pork loin, baked potato with all the fixings, green beans, salad, hot roll and cheesecake. Everyone was asked to make two lines with approximately 100 guests being served promptly in 10 minutes.
