The 2018-19 school year began promptly at 8 a.m. on August 16. Students were seen eager to arrive and ready to begin the academic year. Memories were made by several area families for the first day of school, both at Monroe City R-1 and Holy Rosary Catholic schools, as pictures by parents were taken to capture memories and hugs were given as the students headed in different directions to start their day.
As students and their families arrived at the Monroe City R-1 elementary, staff and teachers were there to greet everyone as they stepped in the door.
The cafeteria was filled with students starting their day with breakfast as teachers assisted with the first-time students learning the routine of retrieving a tray.
