Posted on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 9:33 am

The Monroe City R-1 Education Foundation was formed by individuals in the community to support and fund opportunities for the next generation to help provide increase the atmosphere they learn in. Since the foundation was formed in November of 2015, it has grown tremendously by the support of the community and is now able to offer grants for vision the foundation was created.
The foundation now has grants available for the Elementary, Middle School and High School buildings. The Teacher Classroom grant is the first available since the foundation began. One $500 grant will be awarded to each building. The grant cycle opened on December 15 and will close at 11:59 p.m. on February 5, 2018. The grant awards will be announced the following mid-April.
The main fundraiser is the Ace of Diamonds which has created interest in a big way. Each Tuesday the foundation does a live drawing for those who had purchased tickets the previous week. The goal is for the ticket holder drawn to have picked the numbered envelope the Ace of Diamonds card is in. The great part about the fundraiser is the winning ticket holder is guaranteed to win even if the number they picked is not the Ace of Diamonds.
