At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, Ralls County Deputies ensued a chase with a white Chevrolet pickup truck. The driver left the truck in a field near Highway J and Oakland Road in Ralls County. At that time the individual took to foot and was able to escape capture.
After a more than five hour manhunt in the area of Oakland road and Apple Lane west of Highway J with the use of K-9 and air patrol, in temperatures less than favorable, the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office decided to call off the search. Residents in the area were on full alert during the overnight hours.
Monroe County Sheriff David Hoffman stated he had Monroe County Deputies patrolling the Monroe, Ralls County border during the search and through the night.
As of approximately 8:20 a.m. the Monroe County Sheriff Office has received report of a second vehicle stolen overnight. The Blue 2000 Dodge extended cab pickup truck was stolen from an unoccupied farm three miles from the search area. The rural Monroe City farm which the vehicle was stolen from sits just off of Rt. N approximately three miles south of Monroe City. It is assumed the truck was stolen by the same individual.
At this time the suspect is still at large. The stolen truck has a fifth wheel attachment and rusty running boards. Anyone who sees this vehicle or has any information, please call the Monroe County Sheriff Office at 660-327-5175.
