Stephen Bryant, of Salem, IL, is walking across America for addiction awareness in memory of his brother, Robert Johnson, Jr., who was taken from him on February 26 at the age of 30. Bryant recently spent the night at the Bel-Air Motel on June 8 before continuing his journey west across the states.
Bryant stated “I actually started in Virginia Beach on February 19, walking for myself trying to deal with my brother’s terrible addiction to heroine that was killing him,” he added, “I walked for a week before receiving a call that my brother had died.” When Bryant learned of his brother’s death he returned home to be with his family for a few weeks before returning out on the road to continue his walk again. Bryant shared he believed drugs are becoming an epidemic across the nation and stealing the lives of many loved ones.
