On June 3, 14 members of the community recently left for Costa Rica to tour the country. Of the 14 there were eight children and six adults made up of students, teachers, parents and grandparents.
Jennifer Hays, the trip chaperone and teacher at Monroe City R-1, organized the trip for anyone in the community that wanted to travel. Hays stated, “I like to plan these trips for the community and the families that maybe wouldn’t have taken a vacation but as a group have the opportunity to,” adding, “It has been a joy to see grandparents take their grandchildren on these trips and students experience new things.” Hays has organized several trips for the community including Washington D.C., New York City, NY, London and France.
While staying in Costa Rica the group stayed in four different hotels throughout the country.
