Local girls hold booksigning

Posted on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 7:15 am

Co-writers, Bradi Keller and Camryn Hays celebrate with Bradi’s grandmother, Cindy Hancock and Camryn’s grandfather, Gary Yager during a booksigning of their book, The Journey of Cancer.

A book signing held on June 27 will help others in their battle against cancer. Nine year olds, Bradi Keller and Camryn Hays, of Monroe City, put their thoughts together at recess while attending school this spring at Holy Rosary. The two girls recently published a book called The Journey of Cancer.

The book signing, held at the Monroe City Public Library was well attended and the girls sold out halfway through their book signing.
The book was created to raise funds to help others in their fight against the disease. Both authors, Bradi and Camryn, have experienced the hardship of watching a grandparent battle and lose their fight to cancer. Beth Keller, Bradi’s mother, stated, “Last spring the girls were at recess and talking about a movie they had just watched. The conversation turned to how they could raise money to help people with cancer.  One of their friends, Emily Spalding, suggested they write a book and publish it.” The girls did exactly that, they took their idea and made it a reality.
