The Pleasant Day 4-H Club, of Marion County, will host the fourth annual Kids Fishing Derby at South Lake on Saturday, June 17. The 4-H members will be there to host children old enough to fish and up to age 14 are invited to compete in the fishing competition. There is no admission charge for the event. The Pleasant Day 4-H Club will be taking donations of new or gently used stuffed animals. Anyone wanting to donate can do so by bringing them to the event and dropping them off. The derby will be divided into three age divisions.
Anyone interested in participating, can register by calling City Hall at (573)735-4585 extension 232 between the hours of 8 a.m. -5 p.m., Monday – Friday. All registrations must be received by 5 p.m. on June 14. There is a limit of 75 children for the event and will be determined on a first to sign up. The age groups are six and under, seven – 10 years of age and 11 – 14 years old. All children must be accompanied by an adult and bring their own fishing gear.
