Human trafficking testimony to be given at Praise Jam

Posted on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 8:56 am

Christine McDonald escaped modern day slavery after a prison stay in 2004.

Praise Jam 2017 will be held at St. Jude’s Park on August 12 at 3 p.m. This will be a family friendly event for all ages to enjoy several activities in the park. The event is hosted by Spencer Camp Ministries and Kingdom Connections with a mission for believers to unite together celebrating Jesus Christ through praise and worship.
The featured speaker will be Christine McDonald, giving her testimony on sex trafficking. Sex trafficking is known as modern day slavery and is proven to be a growing epidemic in Missouri. McDonald was 15 when she was sold for $2,500 to the owner of a strip club. The young teenager was a runaway and doing everything she could just to survive. The man who sold her was two to three times her age, someone who had lured her in with the promise of work, food and a roof over her head. To cope with life as a stripper and later as a street prostitute, McDonald turned to drugs. “I’d been branded like an animal, stabbed, held at gunpoint, chained to a leash in a closet,” McDonald stated. After a release from prison in 2004, McDonald sought help for substance abuse and found employment.
