The Ace of Diamonds fundraiser for the Monroe City Educational Fund came to an end on November 22 with Jim and Stacie Hagan winning the pot of more than $11,000 after a 16 week raffle continued. At 6 p.m. the room grew quiet as Foundation President Jennifer Richardson drew ticket number 31 from the spinner. Gary Yager opened the case, removed the sealed envelope with the corresponding number #31 and revealed the jackpot winning “Ace of Diamonds”.
Prior to the event, Jim Hagan shared he and his wife were in town for the Thanksgiving holiday and decided to see for themselves how fun the Tuesday evening attraction was which he had heard had become a popular event in the community.
Jim stated, “We had read about it in the Lake Gazette and heard from lots of people who described how much fun it is to go up to the Dugout for dinner and the Drawing.”
