The Monroe City Nutrition Center had volunteers come to help for the day on July 27. The group of six were foreign exchange college students from China. The students are here through a summer work and travel program called CCI Greenheart, which is offered through a cultural exchange programs in the U.S. that connect Americans with international students.
There are 15 students total in the program. The group is currently working at the Mark Twain Landing Resort in housekeeping and maintenance jobs overseen by the staff at the resort. The group is staying in the Mark Twain Landing Condo’s during their stay. The students arrived on June 15 and will stay through September.
At the nutrition center, the group of six volunteered their time to meet the requirements of the program. The program requires each student to volunteer hours while in the United States.
