On Sunday, September 17 the rain held off long enough for the First Baptist Church to host their fifth annual block party. The entire community was invited to attend and take part in the many activities planned for the afternoon in St. Jude’s park. The entire park was packed with several people of all ages. The event started promptly at 3:30 p.m. with children games available. Upon arrival, guests were encouraged to register and obtain a nametag and enjoy free popcorn and cotton candy. The churches youth group and church members assisted the children in the games. There was a table for those interested to get their face painted by Lindsay Cheek, Kidada Minter and Taylor Shuck. Children could be seen throughout the day with butterfly masks and colorful designs painted on their faces. Also available was a ping pong cup game, bean bag toss, football throw game and a rubber ducky number game. All winners of the games received candy prizes. There was a craft table lead by Ashley Osborne where she helped the children make apples with watercolor and homemade playdoh. There were also two bounce house’s available with one for older children and one for toddlers.
