On November 14, local crestaurant owner, Shu Zhen Chen of Monroe City, accomplished a goal she has been eagerly working to achieve. Chen became a United States Citizen being recognized during the Naturalization Ceremony in St. Louis.
Chen began studying more than a year ago for the test which requires anyone seeking American citizenship to be knowledgeable in Civics and English.
There are a 100 United States history and government questions required for the person seeking citizenship to answer. Of the 100 questions, each is asked 10 random questions which is required to be answered in English. An applicant must answer six out of 10 questions correctly to pass the civics portion of the naturalization test.
On the naturalization test, some answers may change because of elections or appointments.
