The Monroe City Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the Fall Festival on Saturday, October 14 at the St Jude’s Park. The day will be filled with activities for people of all ages to take part in all over the community.
The Trowel and Trellis Garden Club will host a scarecrow contest, registration to enter will be held from 8:30-9 a.m. All scarecrows must be ready to display. Each entry should be on a rod or stake securely attached. Scarecrows should be picked up by 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Ribbons will be awarded in the following divisions: family or group, business and individual.
Throughout the day there will be live music, a magician, martial arts, dance and other performances along with food, drink and craft vendors.
Available for the children to enjoy will be a kid’s petting zoo, crafts and games, along with a bounce house and box town. For the adults looking for a little game fun, there will be a dunking booth. The event will continue until 2 p.m.

Also, the Monroe City R-1 Marching Band will host Band Day as well on Saturday. There will be an estimated 15-18 bands visiting and competing for the day. A parade of the bands will begin at 9 a.m. and march from the high school entrance, head west on business highway 24/36, turn left on Main St. and will turn left on Second St. continuing to Washington St. making another left where the bands will march south and turn right on Third St.
