On Friday Feb. 24, Asjia Troy signed with John Wood Community College to play basketball with a full ride scholarship. Seated next to her were her grandparents Bill Janes and Kathy Troy. Gathered around to watch were many family members, teachers and friends as she signed her letter of intent along with her present coaches and future.
Troy stated “I choose JWCC because of Coach Rod. He has shown a lot of interest in me for two years and that is where I felt called to play”. University of Missouri-Kansas City was another place Troy had thought about going because she likes the city and plans to move there one day. Her major will be in Early Childhood Education, plans to teach elementary education and possibly would like to build her own preschool one day. Currently she goes to Holy Rosary and helps teach off campus for a class credit.
She chose Feb. 24 to sign her letter of intent with John Wood because it was the date of her late mother’s birthday. She stated “I lost my mom in 2010……..
