The Applebee Tree recently changed ownership on September 1. Hometown native, Matthew Perrine purchased the business from previous owner and founder, Cindy Schnelten. Schnelten started the business 25 years ago in 1993.
Perrine stated, “Cindy is still a big part of this business. She is helping mentor and guide me, teaching me the business to help keep it a success.”
Perrine shared experiences of Schnelten’s dedication to the business over the years, giving testimony of her countless hours worked and mentioned times Schnelten had even cancelled vacations to stay and serve the communities needs of floral arrangements for funerals and events. He explained Schnelten is looking forward to having more time to spend with family and her granddaughter.
Perrine will embark the floral business using his history of working in retail sales. He worked in retail management at Bergner’s in Quincy, IL for several years and recently moved home from Denver, CO where he also managed retail at Stein Mart. Perrine stated, “I was wanting to move back home, but didn’t know what I would do for employment. I called Cindy with the proposal to buy the flower shop and she was willing to take my offer.”
